IPM

Integrated Program in Management, mostly known by its abbreviated version IPM was initiated by the Indian Institute of Management, Indore in the year 2011. As a matter of fact, IIM Indore is the one and only institute in the country to offer such a course right after Class XII.


The IPM-AT (Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test) is your pass for getting admission to the desired IPM program after 12th standard. The IPMAT 2018 exams were organized by IIM Indore on 11th of May, 2018. It was a computer-based test. The schedule for the IPMAT 2019 exams has not been releases yet.

If you clear the tests, you are eligible for admission to the 5-year integrated BBA+MBA programme of multiple acclaimed universities such as Indian School of Business & Finance, Bennet University, Manav Rachna, Galgotias, Sharda University, etc.

More about the IPMAT

The first computer-based IPMAT test was organized in the year 2016. Prior to that, the tests were paper-pencil mode. If you clear the IPMAT test, you will be called on for personal interview (PI) rounds.The final selection of successful candidates happens after the completion of personal interview rounds. This exam is ideally meant for young students who aspire to be managers and leaders. An entry into this course ensures good career growth in management career. After 3 years of undergraduate course, the successful IPM applicants become part of IIM Indore’s MBA/PGDM batches. However, note that the total number of available seats for IIM Indore is 120 only. Admissions to IIM, Indore can only be through the IPM Aptitude test, widely known as IPM-AT. The recent act that came into force on January 31st, 2018, the participants applying for IPM 2018 onwards are eligible for a dual degree on successful completion.

Applicants need to understand that there are 2 phases of the IPM – the first three years of the UG program, and the last 2 years. The first three years are for building foundation and the last couple of years entirely focus on Business Management. Successful applicants need to complete a social internship by the end of 3rd year alongside the class work. They also need to undergo a Business internship between the 4th and 5th year. Once the students complete this 5-year academic session successfully, they are awarded with the “Integrated Diploma in Management” by the IIM, Indore. Students can also convert this diploma to a degree, subject to approval.

IPM-AT: Scoring Guide

The organizing authority, i.e. IIM, Indore calculates applicants’ IPM-AT composite score based on the below concept –

 
  • The applicants’ score in QA 60 X (Applicants’ score – Minimum score) / (Maximum Score – Minimum Score).
  • The applicants’ score in VA 40 X (Applicants’ score – Minimum score) / (Maximum Score – Minimum Score).
  • Aptitude Test Score (ATS), and sum of above scores (max limit 100)
  • Based on the above, the applicants with the highest scores in each category are called for the next round, i.e. Personal Interview. However, for final admission, the average weightages are calculated as below –
  • 50% of the applicants’ test score (ATS)+ 35% of the applicant’s personal interview score (PI) + 15% of Written Ability Test (WAT)

IPM-AT: Eligibility :

As per IIM, Indore, the upper age limit for applicants applying for the IPM-AT exams is 20 years for General category. For the reserved category, the upper age limit is 22 years. Another pre-requisite is that applicants willing to undergo the IPM-AT exams must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their 10th and 12th standard. The limit is 55% for applicants belonging to reserved categories.

IPM-AT: Registration

The application process for IPM is totally online. Applicants need to visit the official website, fill in the required details, then upload the documents, and deposit the exam fee. Once you are successfully registered, you will get an access to download the admit card, which is ideally made available at least a week before the exams.
